We believe in leaders at every level. It’s part of our mission to bring those leaders in our community together so amazing things can happen. Our organization is blessed to have so many great leaders among our membership, and that’s a blessing we wanted to share beyond our gatherings. So we’re taking the time to interview some of our members and share their insights with you.

For our first interview, we pulled one of our favorite members, Jennifer Thompson.

Jennifer Thompson is the Co-Owner and Chief Operations Officer for Stingray Branding, the premiere digital marketing agency in Charleston, SC. Owning a business with her husband, Alan, raising children, and tackling all of the other day-to-day things life throws her way, Jennifer is an incredible example of leadership in action. We took a few minutes to sit down with this incredible lady and ask her a few questions.

What Does Leadership Mean To You?

I’m a big believer in servant leadership. Leaders serve more than anything. You have to be willing to be the person there when everyone else is done for the day and you have to help the people you lead. Bottom line, you only get ahead by helping the people you lead. If they can’t do their jobs, you can’t do yours.

What’s the Biggest Lesson You’ve Learned as a Leader?

As we scale our company, we are constantly faced with new challenges. I think one of the most valuable lessons you learn as a leader comes form moments where things are changing a lot. You realize that you don’t know everything, and that constant learning is really important. It’s also very important to have a team of people who really know what they’re doing and to support them. That’s really the only way you can grow a company successfully.

Who Is Your Biggest Leadership Influence?

Eric Thomas. He’s a motivational speaker I love to listen to. His messages really help me put things in perspective and get focused.

How Has Charleston Leaders Helped You?

They always say you are who you surround yourself with. I think that’s true. Charleston Leaders gives me the opportunity to be around other leaders who’ve walked very different paths from me. You can learn a lot in a few moments of conversation and I have definitely learned a lot about leadership. It’s great to have a group where you can grow and learn because that’s why we all showed up.

We Believe in Leaders at All Levels

Charleston Leaders believes that leaders exist at all levels in all areas of our communities and our lives. Through our numerous events and programs, we aim to develop these leaders and make our communities a better place as a result. We believe in leaders at all levels, and we believe you are one of them! Come join us at one of our events and meet other leaders just like you!
