I was born and raised in Drayton-on-the-Ashley, down Highway 61, at a time when it took ten minutes to drive from home to the ballfields at St. Andrews Playground. I spent my summer days swimming and boating in the Ashley River or riding my bicycle on the Mark Clark Expressway – a road that was under construction then and remains incomplete to this day.

My school years were spent at Springfield Elementary, Wallace Middle School and Middleton High School. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina with a double major in Finance and Real Estate. I continued my education at The Citadel, earning my Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

During my 20 years as a commercial banker in Charleston, I’ve had the opportunity to assist hundreds of small businesses to start, grow or expand their operations.  These companies are the engine of the Lowcountry – employing thousands of our citizens. For me, there is no greater professional motivation than watching my clients turn their business dreams into realities.

My wife Julie and I live in Parkshore West of the Ashley. Our three children, Samantha, Zachary and Steven, all attend Charleston County public schools and keep us busy with dance, swimming, baseball and tennis. My family attends John Wesley United Methodist Church, where I am currently the Treasurer and past Chairman of the Administrative Council.  I enjoy spending time with extended family and friends, playing softball, taking walks in West Ashley and watching any game USC may be playing.
